“Dance requires commitment, regular attendance, and dedication in order to make progress. Additionally, each class progresses together week-to-week, so being in class is important to keeping up and continuing to improve. However, we understand that as adults, life can be busy. You, your kids, your parents, or your pets may get sick, and you may go on vacation or get stuck at work, etc.

You may make up the missed class by attending another group class of the same level at any of our studios, within four weeks of the missed class. We cannot offer you an individual makeup class or credit/refund for any missed classes. However, instructors will go over the previous material at the next session as a refresher. Furthermore, choreography notes and/or video tutorials are available for some of the classes.”

Our Level 1 or Fundamentals class presents the perfect starting point for individuals who are new to dancing. Additionally, we provide a broad range of specialty class series that cater to different interests and skill levels. Depending on the topic, one of our specialty classes could also serve as an excellent option for beginners.

We recommend wearing lightweight workout clothes during our classes. Although it’s not mandatory to reveal your abdomen, we do suggest wearing a body-hugging top to facilitate proper muscle usage. We perform stretches on the floor and stretch out our arms, so make sure your clothing allows for comfortable movement. To begin with, you may opt to dance barefoot or wear socks before investing in ballet shoes or belly dance T-bar shoes. You may also wear a hip scarf or coin belt to enhance your hip movements.

Unless otherwise informed, all you will need is a bottle of water, a sweat towel, and a hip scarf (if you have one), along with lots of enthusiasm!

Belly dance is a unique and inclusive fitness option that provides a creative outlet and social connections for people from diverse backgrounds. Our dancers have ranged in age from 4 to 76, and we come in all shapes and sizes. You don’t need to be super fit, and you can take it at your own pace.

In class, you will never be required to show your belly. While some dancers prefer to reveal their torso to see the movement, it is not a requirement. If you choose to perform, you may wear a body stocking or belly cover or a full belly dance dress.

We all know that learning choreography and combinations is fun. However, to be better equipped for choreography specific classes, students are expected to attend technique classes. Technique classes will make you a better dancer by improving your technical skills and building your dance vocabulary. Remember, every small improvement in technique will lead to significant improvement in your overall dance ability. Additionally, please note that our Meraki Oriental Belly Dance Program and Elysian Fusion Belly Dance Programs incorporate both technique and choreography/combinations.
Our classes are structured to provide a comprehensive training experience. The session begins with a warm-up, followed by specific techniques that include practicing isolations, drills, combos, and choreography. Each class concludes with a cool-down designed to promote safety and fitness. We encourage punctuality, as being on time will ensure that you receive the full benefit of the class. Should you arrive late, we ask that you please perform your own warm-up before joining the class. Our team is committed to helping you achieve your goals, and we believe that consistent attendance and participation are essential for progress. Let’s work together to attain your dance aspirations!

“No, belly dance is for you first. However, Dancing Divinity will provide you with many opportunities to perform if you are interested.”
