Meraki Oriental Belly Dance Program
Belly dancing is one of the most expressive art forms out there. Through this program, you will have the chance to explore the many different styles of belly dance that exist, whether it is the classic forms that have been passed down through the ages or the modern styles that are popular today. You will learn how to control your muscles, move with grace and poise, and express yourself in ways that you never thought possible. With a focus on the Egyptian Oriental style, you will be able to master the foundational elements of this beautiful dance form and build your skills from there.
Our classes are thoughtfully created with a consistent format, which includes a breakdown of clear movement instructions, drilling the basics, hands-on adjustments, and a focus on integrating movements through combinations, choreography, and improvisational exercises. There is an emphasis on posture and alignment, as well as the development of strong and graceful arms and hands, intricate hip articulations, abdominal work, and articulated isolations, pops, and locks, serpentine undulations, dynamic shimmies, turns, and step combinations. We also encourage emotional expression in our classes.
We are dedicated to exploring the music of Egypt, Lebanon, Turkey, and other Middle Eastern countries, and we aim to demystify it to help our students become truly immersed in the music that's made for belly dance. Alongside our movement technique, we also explore the history and cultural context of this beautiful dance form.

Karma Echoes Fusion Belly Dance Program
What are Karma Echoes? In 2020, Valenteena Ianni, a world-renowned fusion belly dancer from Rome, Italy, created a combo-based vocabulary called Karma Echoes. The echoes are combinations and phrases crafted by Valenteena Ianni. They are characteristic of her own fusion belly dance style and are divided into three categories: short, mid, and long echoes. These form a vocabulary of combinations, each with its own name, count, and specific technique that can be used as a tool in choreography and improvisation. The goal of this program is to provide new inspiration for your dance. Practicing this vocabulary over time will improve your technique, make your movements more fluid, and give you a better sense of musicality in fusion belly dance. The Karma Echoes format is now used by hundreds of dancers all over the world, and currently, there are certified Karma Echoes teachers all around Europe, South Africa, and Russia.
Which level should you attend?
Take your time to allow your body to absorb the foundational material. Repetition is the best way to internalize the movements and music and build strong alignment, form, and execution. Welcome to our beginner's belly dance class! This level is perfect for those who are brand new to belly dance or just need a refresher. No previous dance experience is necessary. At this level, the focus will be on breaking down and drilling key foundational techniques. It is a fabulously feminine workout and dance experience suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Our step-by-step methods will have you dancing up a storm in no time. As the weeks progress, you will learn a choreographed routine perfect for your next social event or to use as your own private practice piece. Clear demonstrations, logical explanations, specific vocabulary, and plenty of repetition all add to a pleasant and fun learning experience.
As you progress from Level 1, we guarantee a seamless transition into an environment that focuses on building upon your foundational skills. Our team will strive to optimize your learning experience by incorporating more variety, greater use of floor space, and inspiring combinations. By merging movements, we will create new, complex, and interesting shapes and pathways, while also introducing new dance techniques, styles, and props to stimulate growth and progress. Learn to incorporate further arm elements to frame and shape your dance beautifully. Additionally, we have created a captivating choreography that will enrich your Level 2 dance experience. Our lessons will provide you with the opportunity to explore improvisation, where you can play with glimpses of new ideas that will refine your skills.
This level offers an in-depth exploration of intermediate to advanced belly dancing techniques designed to challenge and inspire. Students will learn classic movements and nuances such as percussive hips, sinuous torso techniques, fluid arm connectivity, stunning poses, and faster footwork. In addition to these skills, the curriculum also includes exposure to complex musical compositions and rhythms, more advanced layering and movement combinations, props, and so much more. Overall, this level presents an excellent opportunity for dancers to deepen their knowledge and hone their craft over a sustained period. By successfully completing the curriculum, students will emerge as proficient and confident dancers, ready to take on new challenges and continue growing as artists.
